The Cookiesaver Preload script is designed to be placed within the <head> section of the website, before any Tag Managers or Analytics/Marketing vendors are loaded.
In some cases where this is not possible due to various circumstances , the Preload script can also be deployed using Google Tag Manager (GTM). This implementation method relies on firing the Preload script before any vendor tags in GTM using Tag Sequencing.
Step 1:
Create a new Custom HTML tag and add the Cookiesaver Preload script to it. Remember the <script></script> tags. Do not add any triggers.
Step 2:
In your analytics/marketing tags that uses cookies, go to Advanced Settings -> Tag Sequencing and select Fire a tag before XXX, where XXX is the name of your vendor tag. Now select the Cookiesaver Preload script (just created in step 1).
In the below example we are configuring this for our GA Pageview tag.
With this setup, the Cookiesaver Preload script will run before any vendor tags, ensuring that cookies are always up-to-date.
