The following is ONLY relevant if you have used code snippets or implemented Cookie Saver prior to August 6th, 2019.
On Tuesday, August 6 2019, we released a new version (v3) of Cookie Saver. This version uses a completely different and more optimized way of saving your cookies, also introducing better management of your cookies. Features include:
- Only a single backup cookie per domain is used
- More configuration possibilities, including secure cookies
- Validation methods to quickly assert that your setup is working
- Cookie deletion for easy integration with your Cookie Consent manager
When implemented, version 3 or Cookie Saver automatically converts any cookies saved using our previous method to the new way. Your cookie data will remain intact.
To upgrade, simply follow the steps below
Step 1: Update Preload script
Replace your current preload script with the one listed in your Cookie Saver account. See Cookie Saver scripts
Step 2: Update Cookie Saver script
After the Preload script has been updated, you will need to update the configuration script (Tag Manager script). In most cases, this is deployed through your Tag Manager. The new configuration tag will ensure that you are getting the new version 3 of Cookie Saver.
Note: It will make sense to review your cookie setup as some fields has been made redundant in most setups (e.g. the "domain" parameter in the "init" method). See Initialize: Endpoint and adv. settings and Add cookies to save them
