Cookie Saver will be terminated as of June 30th, 2023. This is due to the updates released with Safari 16.4 which affect the functionality of the service.
This article explains how to cancel your existing subscription(s) and remove all the scripts, tags, and DNS records related to Cookie Saver.
The process:
1. Cancel the Cookie Saver setup(s)
Note! If you do not cancel your setups/subscriptions, they will automatically be terminated on June 30th, 2023. Also, uninstalling Cookie Saver is not necessary but it is good practice that you remove any unused script. |
3. Remove the Configuration / Tag Manager script
4. Remove the Cookie Saver DNS records
1. Cancellation of setup/subscription
(Use this login if you created your account before Dec 23, 2020)
b. Click ‘Edit’ on an active setup
c. Click ‘Cancel setup’
d. Repeat for all active setups
The label will turn from ‘Active’ to ‘Cancelled’ (it may take a few minutes). That’s it.
2. Removal of the Preload Script
Note: You may need to contact who maintains your website to complete this step. |
a. Head to the <head> section of the source code of your website
b. Locate the Preload script
c. Remove the script
Simply delete everything that is enclosed between these two tags (tags included) or similar:

3. Removal of the Configuration / Tag Manager script
If you added the Configuration script through a Tag Manager, follow the steps under "Tag Manager script in GTM". Otherwise, skip to the section "Configuration script in the source code".

a. Log in to GTM
b. Select the correct account
You have to select the account corresponding to the website where Cookie Saver is implemented
c. Click ‘Tags’ from the navigation bar
d. Locate ‘Cookie Saver Configuration’ and check its box
e. Click the delete icon
This looks like a trash bin that appears after checking a box, on the top right of the table
f. Submit
Note: If you use a different Tag Manager, the above steps may look a bit different. Please, refer to your Tag Manager's documentation for the exact steps. |

a. Head to the <head> section of the source code of your website
b. Locate the Configuration script
You can search for ‘Cookie Saver’
c. Remove the script
Simply delete everything that is enclosed between these two tags (tags included) or similar:

4. Removal of the Cookie Saver DNS records

This process differs depending on the DNS provider you use and you can refer to their documentation for the exact steps.
This is what it generally looks like:
a. Log in to your DNS provider
b. Navigate to the domain control center
E.g., 'Domain Settings' / 'My domains'
c. Locate and Cookie Saver DNS records
d. Select the domain of the website where you implemented Cookie Saver
e. Delete the records
'Manage DNS' > Select the DNS records > 'Delete'.
